Why replace windows.

Picture yourself in your dream home. Is it the 1960's rancher that with all that living space on one floor? Perhaps the 1920's Tudor with the two fireplaces? That house on the farm with the hills in the distance? If you are buying or own an older home, chances are it is in need of some updating. And one of the first things you'll want to look into is replacing the old windows.

Why Replace Windows? Older windows are generally made with wooden frames that warp or rot over time, causing drafts and needlessly higher heating bills in Winter and air-conditioning costs in Summer.

Windows are a key area from which energy escapes from your home. This energy loss can be the result of single-pane glazing, double-hung windows whose seals are no longer tight, and window frames which have warped or expanded, permitting drafts in areas once tightly sealed.

The years take their toll on your windows, perhaps even more so than on many other components of your house. Over years of exposure to seasonal changes and our sometimes harsh weather, caulking that once provided a tight seal flakes away and allows water in. This causes the wood to expand and rot, creating spaces though which air can enter the house. No matter how many times you paint the window frames and sashes, you're left with windows that no longer effectively insulate against the elements. You feel and hear every gust of wind from your seat at the kitchen table or on the living room sofa.
